The word “fashion” can mean many things and used to mean many things, but one thing it generally means is the interpretation of beauty in various cultural and social contexts. Fashion as a whole is usually understood from the viewpoint of the gurus in the fashion business who have made millions of dollars by defining and marketing the best way to wear and look. Fashion is an organized system of aesthetics and identity in a certain context and at a certain time, with the help of fashion designers, tailors, merchandisers, designers, and others, interpreted in everyday life. In its broader sense, the word simply means a style defined by the fashion business as what is fashionable at any given time. The word “fashion” can also be used to refer to a style of dress developed by someone or a group of people having the same cultural, psychological, or other individuality.
Fashion is very closely connected to the economic activity of purchasing new commodities, especially those that are of mass production like clothes, shoes, and other articles of daily use. Economic activity of course leads to the rise of demand for these commodities. More people will then buy them to fulfill their needs, increasing the supply and thus the price. The supply cannot exceed the demand forever, so prices fall to meet the needs of buyers and the demand. The end result is that there is an increased value for the commodity and this leads to more people buying the clothes.
High fashion is a subset of the entire fashion industry. It is a subset of the entire clothing industry since most high fashion designers do not actually create the clothes they are selling, they just popularize them through advertising. Celebrities who become famous through association with high fashion clothes also serve as spokespersons for the fashion industry since they are seen as being beautiful and desirable by so many people in the general public. High fashion also contributes to other industries and it is no wonder that there are so many different jobs related to high fashion.
