Fashion is a generic term used to define a variety of fashions in apparel and accessories with varying levels of complexity. Fashion is a form of individuality and autonomy in a certain time and era and in a certain context, of dress, footwear, accessories, makeup, hair style, and body structure. In its broadest sense, the word simply suggests a new or updated appearance defined by the fashion industry at what is currently trending. But depending on how a certain fashion statement is viewed by those being referred to, it can mean a certain type of fashion or style. The more specific the definition of the term, the less likely it is that anyone would actually find any universally applicable definition for it.
For instance, some might say that “all women who wear clothes made by human beings” would be considered “one trend” or “one style.” However, such a definition would certainly not apply to everyone within that group – there are always individuals within any population who differ in their preferences for fashion, so to speak. On the other hand, it would certainly apply to those whose attire is dictated by trends that are already widely accepted as being present in the world of fashion and also to those whose clothes are a reflection of styles already widespread within the culture at large. These are the people for whom fashion is relevant and significant, regardless of how they personally feel about it.
The fashion world clearly has its critics, and it can be a very daunting task trying to discern between what is good and bad within this sometimes cutthroat industry. Everyone needs to remember that while high fashion may be an extremely valid expression of individualism, individuality, and sexuality; there are clearly different opinions, ideas, and points of view on what constitutes appropriate fashion among different people. What is high fashion for one person may be completely dismissed as trash fashion by another.
